Job Title: Quality Assurance Manager (Biotechnology)

Department: Quality

Job Type: Full-time Exempt

Location: Pullman, WA



The Quality Assurance Manager develops, implements, and manages QMS processes to ensure continuous quality improvement in all services and products provided by VMRD. The position manages the quality assurance functions of the company. 


  • Administer the quality management system to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, GLP, internal standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Establish and oversee an internal audit program
  • Execute internal audits of laboratory procedures, method validations, equipment calibration, and as needed for regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate and host on site client and regulatory agency audits
  • Manage department-wide process harmonization projects
  • Develop, maintain, and improve company quality standards
  • Train, motivate, and coach employees to ensure that quality standards are met
  • Create/maintain written documentation of the responsibilities and procedures applicable to QA functions
  • Review and signoff of quality related customer facing documentation, such as final reports and COAs
  • Compile and analyze information to find areas for process improvement
  • Increase and update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in the sciences and/or 3+ years of equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience with quality assurance, auditing, improvement efforts, and/or administering Quality Management Systems
  • ISO certified internal auditor or equivalent
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification(s) or equivalent
  • Demonstrated knowledge of processes and principles regarding the ISO 9001:2015 quality system
  • Experience with QT9 QMS software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and adaptability to other software
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and have the ability to bring together appropriate people and information to make timely, effective decisions.
  • Must be able to overcome obstacles and find reasonable resolutions to situations on a case by case basis as encountered.
  • High level of attention to detail

  • Written and verbal communication competency
  • Solid analytical and problem solving abilities
